Got a call today, “bees in my chimney” it was my parents so I thought I’d better try and help.
Bees in a chimney can be very difficult to get out, particularly if they have got established, fortunately these may of been there for little more than 24 hours.
I Lit a very smoky fire, which got them moving, some down into the room and some out of the chimney. We found them clustered in the middle of a hedge in the garden.image
I scooped handfuls out into a waiting hive. Hopefully with the bees fanning at the hive entrance I got the queen.image
Gave the hedge a good smoke which cleared the rest of the bees and disguised any left over queen pheromones.image
